Dearest Parents & Guardians,

I hope that you are all keeping well, staying warm and keeping safe. I hope that you are having a beautiful March Break!

The Government of Quebec has a new COVID-19 self-assessment tool to determine one’s isolation period.

If your child is symptomatic, please do not send them to school. Should a child develop symptoms during the day, if a consent form was signed, we will administer a rapid test at school. All students who are symptomatic will be sent home and will have to follow the guidelines issued by the ministry.

When dropping off and picking up your child in the debarcadère from rue Chabot, please do not park or idle your car. Drop off and/pick up in a safe and timely manner. Please remind your children to walk on the sidewalk and not where the cars are.

Parents can also report absences on Mozaik. It is important that if your child has covid related symptoms or tested positive, that you report this to the school, by calling (if confirmed during the day) or email petrudeau@emsb.qc.ca (if confirmed at night or on the weekend) and follow the guidelines for your child and family.

On PED Days, if daycare services are needed, you must call 514.374.0554 or email MFilippone@emsb.qc.ca and register with Ms. Mara, our Daycare Technician.

Thank you to all who participated in the March TCBY and Pizza Fundraisers! If you would like to make an order for any of these two fundraisers, please send in your order forms by Monday, April 11th. Thank you also to Metro Marcanio for donating juice and snacks for the Pizza Fundraisers.

Paid Dress Down Day Fundraiser: We at Pierre Elliott Trudeau Elementary are watching the situation in Ukraine with great sadness. The worsening hostilities will have severe humanitarian consequences for the people of Ukraine, some of who have already endured years of instability, and to the World as a whole. There are millions of people currently fleeing their homes to seek shelter from the ongoing war. Global charities are working to assist as many families as possible. To help support these humanitarian efforts, the dress down day of April 13th raise money for the Canadian Red Cross. All donations are welcomed! Students are encouraged to wear yellow and/or blue, the colors of the Ukrainian flag, to show solidarity. In addition, you may have seen through various media outlets that several local Ukrainian churches have been collecting food and personal hygiene products benefitting the upcoming refugees here in Montreal. If you would like to donate such items, we encourage you to contact the Ukrainian parish directly to establish their needs and hours of operation. Please do not bring them to school, as unfortunately there is no pick-up service for the donation boxes. We thank you in advance for your generosity. Let us all continue to hope for a peaceful end to these terrible conflicts

Grade 6 Students are beginning their exams. Please ensure that students are at school every day and are on time.

On behalf of the entire staff, I thank you for your support and cooperation.

Take care, be well and stay safe.

Ms Alvares
