Parent Newsletter | March 2021
Dearest Parents & Guardians,
Thank you to our PPO and all parents who donated treats for our Staff during Staff Appreciation Week (Feb. 22-25). It was an incredible week! Thank you for spoiling all of us! Over the past year, we have seen our staff go over and beyond to ensure that our students stay safe. Your support and care have helped us along the way. And mostly, the love and smiles from our students are what gets us through our days. I am very proud of the environment that exists in our school, and the academic, social, emotional and physical needs given to our staff and students daily. THANK YOU ALL for everything!
All classes worked on a Hooked on Schools Activity (week of Feb. 15) where each student drew a puzzle piece with what it is that they learn at school that helps make the World a better place. The pieces will be plastified and placed around the school.
PET celebrated Black History Month (February) by working on individual projects within the class and culminated with virtual assemblies that our Spiritual Community Animator, Ms Samantha Smith, organized. Pre-K to Grade 1 classes took part in a virtual assembly with Salahpan and learned about the Steel Pan, while enjoying a concert. Grades 2 to 6 enjoyed a virtual presentation with DJ Malik Shaheed, where students danced, actively answered questions and learned about Black History.
Our Pre-K & K classes celebrated their 100 days of schools on Feb. 23 with fun CENT-sensional activites!
The virtual Parent Teacher Interviews went well. If you were unable to meet with your child’s teacher(s), please contact the teacher by calling the school or emailing the teacher. All email addresses are available on our school website.
We are looking forward to St. Patrick’s Day and the FREE Dress Down Day to wear green and be festive! To get into the spirit of things, our PPO has organized a fun activity, where each class will have the chance to guess how many green candies are in the jar. The class that guesses the closest amount will get a prize!!
The week of March 22 to 26 is I love to READ Week, where fun activities are planned for our students. We ask that you read with your child(ren) at night and encourage the love of reading.
The school yard renovations will begin in March. We ask that you drop-off and pick up your child from the Daycare Entrance (north side). Please stand outside of the gates. Continue being safe by wearing a mask and social distancing. Avoid parking on Cartier Street (from St. Zotique to Belanger) as this is where the buses will eventually be parked when we break ground in the school yard.
Thank you for your continuous support and collaboration!
Take care and be well!
Ms Alvares
