"Leading With Your Heart 2.0" is a 20-minute assembly-style presentation tailored for elementary school students by Samara . The presentation addresses crucial topics such as anti-bullying, self-love, the importance of empathy, with a focus this year on finding and maintaining a healthy friendship and the importance of having a support network or individual. All this is packaged in an easy-to-digest presentation that integrates the art of poetry as a powerful tool for expression. When Samara reads one of her poems, you can hear a pin drop in the room! By sharing her personal experiences and insights from her journey, students are encouraged to cultivate self-confidence and pursue their true passions. Afterwards, students have the opportunity to ask Samara questions directly for a 10 to 15 minute Q&A session.

Poetry Workshop

Immerse your students in the art of poetry with the one-hour workshop, "Poetry's Return to the Classroom with Samara O'Gorman." This interactive session begins with a short introduction about Samara’s journey as an author. Her latest poetry collection, July's Return, serves as the inspirational foundation for the workshop. She will read the short collection, and then directly following the presentation, will guide the class through a step-by-step process on how to write poetry. Each student will receive a booklet to write a short poem inspired by their favourite month of the year. To enhance their creativity, students will also pair their poems with drawings, reflecting the content of July's Return. As Samara circulates the classroom, she will provide personalized guidance to support each student. By the end of the workshop, the class will have developed their very own collection of poetry as a beautiful keepsake! The workshop's main goal is to nurture creative writing skills and foster a deeper appreciation for the power of self-expression through poetry. (Tailored for both elementary school and high school students).
